This is a Frankfort/Buffalo Trace distilled Weller Special Reserve. It’s a NAS expression bottled at 45% ABV.
Nose: Honey, molasses, thick brown sugar, a fair amount of oak.
Palate: Heavy vanilla up front followed by very heavy brown sugar again. Oak takes on a slightly minty profile.
Finish: Vanilla lingers with a bit of raw corn note.
Rating: 85/100 – A good but unremarkable bourbon.
Value for the money: I paid $11 for this bottle, and I think that’s a massive steal for what you get. There are bourbons charging $60+ out there that aren’t as good.
