This is an 18 year expression from Tomatin’s core range. It was finished in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at 46% ABV.
Nose: Heavy sherry with a smoked oak note. Fresh berries, slight bbq meats, cherry cough syrup, and fudge.
Palate: Very oak forward here with sherry taking on a more funky, Manzanilla type profile full of vegetal notes and cocoa.
Finish: Dark fruits develop with mossy oak and more vegetal notes.
Rating: 85/100 – Would like to try this at a higher proof as it tasted quite watered down at 46%.
Value for the money: These retail around $80-$90, and it’s not a terrible price for what you get, but I won’t be buying one at that price most likely.
