This is the 10 year expression that’s part of Springbank’s core range. It’s a blend of bourbon and sherry matured malts bottled at 46%.
Nose: Young oak with slight turpentine leading into a briny malt with subtle anise. I don’t get a lot of sherry influence from the nose here.
Palate: Fruity bubblegum with strong oak followed by spiced barley with pepper crusted smoked meat.
Finish: Funky malt with spiced oak and heavy grass notes – lasts for quite a long time.
Rating: 82/100 – Some nice complexities for a 10 year malt, but doesn’t come fully together for me.
Value for the money: These retail around $55 or so, and at that price it’s not too bad.
