This is a distillery only bottling of Jura that was bottled in 2006 at 58.4% ABV.
Nose: Quite rubbery up front leading to an odd ketchup like note as the peat develops (bottle states heavy peated, but like most Juras that claim that, the peat is quite mild). Cinnamon and chocolaty after a bit with bitter orange peel.
Palate: Pungent peat up front (much stronger than nose) – rather ashy with mild oak, although the rubber/old tire notes are still quite strong.
Finish: Mostly strong peat lingering on for a long time.
Rating: 82/100 – Rubber notes really detract from malts for me unfortunately, and it’s quite strong in this one. Could’ve been quite nice without those notes…
Value for the money: Can’t find a lot of data on price – last one I can see at auction went for €155 a few years ago. I’m assuming this retailed around €60-80 when it was bought, and that’s an ok price if so, but I wouldn’t pay anything over that.
