Imperial 15 Port Wood Finish (Gordon & MacPhail 1991) Review

This is a 15 year Imperial expression from G&M that was finished in Port casks and bottled at 46% ABV.

Nose: Sweet port full of dark cherries and apricots tucked in potent sawdust notes with some older oak in the background. Grape juice comes through more cleanly after a bit with vanilla and wax.

Palate: Very strong port influence still with a blend of cinnamon, tart apples, beeswax, and nice balance of oak.

Finish: Remains quite waxy with dry oak and spiced fruits.

Rating: 85/100

Value for the money: I believe these retail between $75-$100, and I’d say it makes a pretty solid buy at that price if you’re into port finishes.
