Glenmorangie Tusail Review

This was the private edition from Glenmorangie in 2015. It is made with Maris Otter barley which is a bit of a throwback barley that isn’t commonly used anymore. It’s a NAS expression that was bottled at 46% ABV.

Nose: Stronger malt profile than I typically find in Glenmorangie – less fruits as well. Heavy oak, wet clay, slight aceton, raw grains come through clearly.

Palate: Ether notes with barley and oak dominating. Very little fruit/sweet notes which I’d normally find in Glenmorangie.

Finish: Oak, very subtle pear, barley – short and dry overall.

Rating: 81/100 – This was a letdown for me and a bit too far astray from typical Glenmorangie.

Value for the money: This retailed for around $99 which is way overpriced. I think this competes in quality with the Glenmorangie 10 which retails around $35 or so.
