This was the first Private Edition release from Glenmorangie. It was finished in Pedro Ximinez (PX) sherry casks before being bottled at 46% ABV.
Nose: Rich malt with PX notes in the form of raisins (my typical PX note I pull out). Slight acetone note in the background with a little peach.
Palate: Huge raisins with some added spice and minimal oak.
Finish: Even sweeter than the palate and quite long. Plenty of spices linger with the raisiny PX.
Rating: 90/100 – As a fan of sweeter whiskies, this was right up my alley.
Value for the money: These retailed for around $99 but are long gone. They go for $250 or so on secondary currently, and I’d pass at that price.
