This is a discontinued expression from Glenmorangie. It’s a 12 year malt finished in Madeira casks and bottled at 43% ABV.
Nose: Thick madeira curtain that dominates the nose with some plums and strawberries peeking through.
Palate: All spice with little sweetness – heavy and slightly bitter oak with the rich madeira rounding out the profile.
Finish: Bitter, quite short, and dry – reminds me of a cabernet sauvignon that’s been open a few days.
Value for the money: These retailed around $50-$60 which isn’t bad, but secondary prices are probably closer to $100 which I would not pay.
