This is one of Glenmorangie’s core lineup and is a 12 year expression matured in oak before being finished in oloroso/px casks for a couple years. It’s bottled at 43% ABV.
Nose: Vanilla laced sherry with a kick of black pepper. Honey mixed with slightly rotted oak. Sherry is fairly bright overall.
Palate: Sweet sherry with large citrus influence. Grape juice and sawdust bloom over time.
Finish: Bitter overall with a touch of honey and oak as the sherry fades away.
Rating: 83/100 – An enjoyable pour, but rather basic all around. A good intro to sherried malt perhaps.
Value for the money: These go for around $45 at retail, and I think that’s just about right for what you get.
