This was the private edition from 2011 which was finished in Super Tuscan wine casks. It’s a 2:1 blend of 15 year and 21 year malt and bottled at 46%.
Nose: Very sweet – reminds me of a dessert wine. Vanilla, grape jam, raisins, and a myriad of spices.
Palate: Grape jam with apples, cloves, pepper.
Finish: Nice spice/malt combo with subtle oak – long finish.
Rating: 90/100 – One of my favorite Private Editions from Glenmorangie – especially given my like of sweet/fruity malts.
Value for the money: These were around $99 retail which was a good buy, but since they’re discontinued they’re probably closer to $150 now which is pushing it for this bottle.
