Glenfiddich The Original Review

This is a NAS expression from Glenfiddich that is supposed to recreate the profile of the original 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt. It’s bottled at 40% ABV.

Nose: Apples and pears mingling with beeswax, honey oak, and a crisp, clean malt. Had this been blind, I would’ve guessed a Clynelish as it really has that waxy fruit profile.

Palate: The 40% is painfully obvious here, tastes very watered down with minimal malt and oak flavors, subtle spices and washed out apples.

Finish: Disappears in a flash unfortunately.

Rating: 73/100 – The nose is quite nice on this one, but it’s a shame that it falls apart after that.

Value for the money: I think these typically retail close to $100, but can be found on sale for as low as around half of that sometimes. Either way I’d pass on it.
