This is a 19 year Glenfiddich that replaced the duty-free Age of Discovery Madeira Cask a few years back. It’s bottled at 40% ABV.
Nose: Beeswax, flower petals dried over smoke, fresh oak, peaches, and subtle apples.
Palate: Sweet on entry turning oak heavy and bitter with apple peals, waxy pears, becomes dry after a bit.
Finish: Honey lingers with mild oak and pepper.
Rating: 83/100 – Not bad, but at a higher proof this could be quite a bit better I suspect.
Value for the money: This retails around $120 I believe, and I’d pass at that price. I’d be a buyer closer to $60 or so.
