This is a Four Roses OBSK Single Barrel selection by Big Red Liquor. It’s a 9 year 9 month bourbon bottled at 56.5% ABV.
Nose: Big vanilla up front – the added rye from the B recipe helps balance the oak nicely. Black cherries, watermelon, and toffee.
Palate: Oak up front turning earthy and spicy as rye comes in. Slightly sweet, but mostly peppery and earthy overall.
Finish: Pulls quite a disappearing act here sadly – basically zero finish here unfortunately.
Rating: 79/100 – One of the rare busts I’ve had as a FR Single Barrel pick.
Value for the money: Normally I consider these one of the best values in bourbon, but for this particular bottling, I wouldn’t pay $50 again for it.
