This is a discontinued expression from Crown Royal that was a blend of 50+ whiskies aged in cognac barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.
Nose: Slightly smoky malt with old and damp oak. Very subtle grape jelly and orange peels.
Palate: Citrus and grapes again with a bit of clove – old oak comes alive here as well.
Finish: Vanilla and oak linger with a mild citrus twist.
Rating: 80/100 – The low ABV hurts as it has a watered down taste to it – would love to try this at a higher proof.
Value for the money: I paid around $60 for this which I wouldn’t pay again.
