This is the second edition of the barrel proof offering in the E.H. Taylor line. It’s a NAS expression bottled at 67.7% ABV.
Nose: Burnt oak up front with a weird grape juice back note. Tobacco smoke lingers around the edges.
Palate: Wow – pretty staggering heat on this one. Oak with light honey and subtle fruits.
Finish: Abundant cigar smoke as it becomes a bit sweeter as heat dies down.
Rating: 84/100 – If you like big bruisers with high ABV it may be up your alley, but the high ABV in this case drowns out a lot of the palate for me.
Value for the money: These retail around $80, and I think that’s about $20-$30 too high personally.
