This is a 22 year Dallas Dhu bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 40% ABV. Dallas Dhu is a distillery that was closed in 1983, so their expressions are becoming more rare as time goes on.
Nose: Big, clean malt. Straw, slightly salty, and a hint of chocolate tucked away with some light berry notes.
Palate: Delicate barley warpped in spices. Fairly briny for a highland malt – very subtle oak.
Finish: Slight burst of sweet berries followed by barley and cocoa.
Rating: 86/100 – Very subtle, but a great study on aged barley with minimal oak influence.
Value for the money: I picked this up for $130 which I think is a fair price.
