This is a very common inexpensive rye that should be available at just about any liquor store. It’s a NAS rye (95% rye) that’s bottled at 45% ABV.
Nose: Bowl of freshly ground rye grain – so much cereal in here with no discernible oak.
Palate: Huge rye with black pepper and acetone.
Finish: Big rye with a hint of young oak.
Rating: 77/100 – It can be difficult to strike a good balance with something that is 95% rye. I’ve heard this is great for cocktails, but it’s a bit rye intense for a sipping dram.
Value for the money: These retail for about $25, so it’s hard to go wrong if you’re curious about ryes.
