This is a 15 year Caol Ila expression that was finished in a Banyules wine cask and bottled by Dunes An Oir at 55.6% ABV.
Nose: Peat with fruity white wine notes – blueberries, cinnamon, ginger.
Palate: Grape juice and peat up front with sour oak and ripe banana developing.
Finish: Smoke and oak with sour fruits, pepper, and peat fading gently.
Rating: 85/100 – Never had a Banyules finish, but wine finished peated drams usually pique my curiosity.
Value for the money: These retailed btween $80-$100 which is fair in my opinion.
