This is a heavily peated NAS expression from Bunnahabhain that was matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46.3% ABV.
Nose: Very peat forward with vanilla, overripe bananas, decaying leaves, and a bit of grapefruit.
Palate: Peat is very strong with burnt rubber, and old oak – quite ashy overall.
Finish: Peat and ashes linger with a hint of fudge.
Rating: 83/100 – Interesting to try such a heavily peated Bunnahabhain, but it’s a bit one dimensional.
Value for the money: I believe this retails around $75, and I would personally pass at that price.
