Arran Devil’s Punchbowl Chapter I Review

This is a NAS expression from Arran bottled at 52.3% ABV. They released 3 chapters in the Devil’s Punchbowl Series. It’s a vatting of 24 casks including some peated and sherry casks.

Nose: Melons, mangoes, with salt atop a floral malt. Sherry notes linger in background with wisps of smoke.

Palate: Bitter melon up front turning peppery with the sherry emerging.

Finish: Quite dry – heat fades into old oak and vanilla custard.

Rating: 88/100 – A complex blend of casks which is quite enjoyable.

Value for the money: These were $130 at retail which isn’t too bad, but guessing the secondary values are over $200 now which is not worth it to me. I’d still buy one at retail if I found one.
