This is a NAS Arran expression that was finished in an Amarone cask (Italian red wine) for an undisclosed period of time and bottled at 50% ABV.
Nose: Floral malt with dry red wine notes – confectioner’s sugar, strawberries, raspberries, and light, dry oak.
Palate: Reminds me of Glenmorangie Companata – stewed dark fruits, cinnamon, vanilla.
Finish: Fruits linger on with spiced malt.
Rating: 86/100 – Quite sweet overall like a dessert pour. The red wine cask influence really comes through.
Value for the money: This goes for around $90-$100 which is a little steep I think. I’d buy a bottle around $70.
