Ancient Age (1992) Review

This is a dusty Ancient Age expression bottled in 1992 at 40% ABV. Ancient Age is a bottom-shelf offering from Buffalo Trace.

Nose: Isopropyl notes mixed with a weird sawdust and what tastes like liquid smoke that was added in to give it some character – almost like firework smoke. Really overripe bananas.

Palate: Hard up front before turning bland with bitter oak and more artificial smoke.

Finish: An unwelcome burn lingers in the throat with a hint of stale vanilla and bitter oak.

Rating: 61/100 – Not much here to enjoy.

Value for the money: This was probably only $10-$15 but I’d still pass on it.
